COVID-19 Safety Guidelines and Best Practices

Vanpool Safely

We all play a role in keeping each other safe and healthy. Please follow advice from public health authorities to prevent the spread of COVID-19, protect you and other riders, and commute safely.

If you’re feeling sick and showing COVID-19 symptoms (coughing, difficulty breathing, fever, etc), please stay home.

Vanpool Rider Safety Tips

Riders can help maintain a safe environment in the vanpool for themselves, other riders, and the driver with a few extra steps.

Wear a mask that covers your mouth and nose for the duration of the trip
Wash your hands before and after you ride
Social distance by staggering where you sit and keep your distance from other riders in the van
Avoid touching your face and surfaces in the van
Start Vanpooling with co-workers that you are already interacting with at work

Vanpool Driver Safety Recommendations

Drivers can create a safe environment through regular cleaning, keeping the van free of clutter, and setting expectations among riders for acceptable behavior.

Champion safety by communicating safety guidelines and ensuring all riders are wearing masks
Clean van at least once a day and sanitize high-touch surfaces like door handles, seat belts, arm rests, window controls, and windows
Keep windows open to improve ventilation and circulate fresh air
Turn off re-circulation mode (max AC) when using air conditioning
Consider temporarily switching to a larger vehicle to enable social distancing, if available
Add plastic barriers between seats in vehicle
